Oral Tie Assessment (Newborn/Infant)

Assessment of oral ties can be complex, and information available from non-clinical or unqualified sources may be inconsistent or not reflect current evidence. My qualifications in clinical Oral Health Therapy and Myofunctional Therapy provide advanced training in the assessment of oral structure and function, allowing for a comprehensive, objective evaluation and appropriate recommendations or referral where indicated.

A comprehensive infant oral tie assessment evaluates the structure and function of your baby's oral tissues to identify signs that may be contributing to feeding, latching, breathing and oral development concerns. The assessment includes a detailed feeding and medical history, a comprehensive oral assessment of the lips, tongue and oral tissues, observation of oral function and mobility, and discussion of any concerns you may have. Home visits are available at no additional cost to allow your baby to be assessed in a familiar and comfortable environment if preferred. Following the assessment, you will receive individualised recommendations and, where appropriate, referrals to other health professionals for further assessment or management.

Please note that I do not perform oral tie release procedures (frenectomy/frenotomy) nor do I provide breastfeeding or bottle feeding advice; my role is to provide a thorough assessment, education and support, and to refer to an appropriate provider if indicated.

A strong commitment to supporting infants and their families stems from both professional experience and personal understanding of the challenges associated with oral dysfunction. Infant oral assessments have been intentionally priced to make comprehensive, personalised care more accessible, with the aim of reducing barriers for families seeking timely assessment, trusted guidance and appropriate referral.
